Soccer is over for another season and we feel like we have a lot more free time. No more weekly practices, soccer clinic or games until next August. Today Logan's team got their uniforms (his team is called "The Galaxy") and they played against another team for a practice game. It gives them all a chance to remember what the game is about and make those first time - back in the game type of mistakes, without their teams standing in the league being penalised. Logan's soccer team (Eagles) got through to the semi-finals in their league, and gave the opposing team a real run for their money. The other teams coach told us it was their hardest game all season, and they ended up winning the overall 1st place - so the Eagles did great to go as far as they did. Jordan has had a great week. The Friday before his actual birthday was a teacher training day, so we took 6 of his friends and went to see a movie (The Game Plan, by Disney rated PG). We got pizza afterwards and had a play at Audubon Park. It was a great day. On his actual birthday we took cupcakes to school to share with his classmates. We had a very busy Saturday. Our school friend Dwayne had his 7th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's, and both Logan and Jordan enjoyed being there 10:30am-2pm. Mum enjoyed time to herself! The Aquarium of the America's had their special members night recently. We were able to see behind the scenes of lots of things, eg where the divers suit up to go into the shark tank at feeding time. Thursday we went across the Causeway which was a big stretch for Carey, because she's not very keen on bridges. Carey and Halli arrived Tuesday night and we've been having a GRAND time showing them our home city. Wednesday we went to the Aquarium, and it was Halli's first experience of an aquarium. A team of 15 has been with us since Friday 27 June. They came to help rebuild New Orleans, and were here for 4th of July where we enjoyed fireworks over the Mississippi. We have discovered a nest of baby birds in the top of one of Mike's hanging ferns. While Mike was away I dutifully watered all his plants. Every year at Audubon Charter School there is a production using a real theatre at Tulane University. Jordan's class did three items, all around the theme of "Bones" so each child wore a skeleton costume. It was incredibly well done - I was amazed at the excellent standard!!!

We finally have a pet. As yet he has no name. The lizard was caught in our garden. Logan and Jordan often spent time hunting for such things together with their cousin Joel (in Wellington, NZ). Thanks for teaching us so well Joel!

We've had a few play dates recently. Logan's friend Wesley has a couple of dogs, one of them just had puppies. So when we dropped Wesley home we went inside to see the one day old puppies. Unfortunately the mummy dog wasn't too impressed with Logan wanting to get near her puppies, and he was too far infront of me to protect him so the mummy dog gave Logan a bit of a scare.
